Lee has been coaching professionally for 8 years now and a further 5 before this in a voluntary capacity whilst studying at Liverpool John Moores University. He got into coaching accidentally as a profession when his University course finished and it became time to “get a proper job”, he took up his first full time role at City of Salford SC and his love for the job took over from a successful career swimming at Junior International and senior National level.
In his last role he was Chief Coach at the City of Chester Swimming Club. It was his second role as a Chief Coach he managed to achieve Chester’s best season’s results for 10 years, achieving 7 finals and 3 medals at the 2011 National age groups and Youth Championships.
Over his career he has put 14 swimmers onto National and International Programmes.
In a previous role he was employed as Head of Performance Swimming of Oldham Aquatics Swimming Club and also Oldham Advanced Training Scheme. In this time he coached 10 swimmers to British Age / Youth Qualifying times and also had 5 Gold and 2 Silver medals at British DSE junior Championships. One of his swimmers achieved a world ranking of 4th in the S4 classification.
In another previous job role he worked within Salford's "Swim IN Salford" Competitive swimming programme, managing the competitive swimming programme for the "Age Group" swimmers, ranging from 5-6 years through to 18 year old competitive swimmers, with an ability range from skill development, through to National Champions and British Record Holders.
Over his coaching career his swimmers have achieved over 30 medals at National Age Groups and Youth Champs as well as 2 British age group records.
Lee commented:
"In my free time I spend more than 20 hours per week training. I still compete at masters swimming events and last Season broke a British Masters Record. I do have a Life outside of the pool, I am a keen football fan (Liverpool) and also play the Guitar (Badly).
I am certainly looking forward to Working on the Isle of Man and building on the successes of this year's championships."
